In 2015, SEKOMU launched a capacity building project on the right of education for children with disabilities around Usambara Mountains. The project is focused on implementing capacity building workshops on four main groups:

  1. Teachers of kindergarten schools, primary schools and secondary schools 
  2. Teachers of kindergarten schools, primary schools and secondary schools 
  3. Education administratorsLocal government leaders Religious leaders

From 10-14/07/2017 the project trained forty (40) teachers from different public schools from Mnazi and Shume Wards in Lushoto District.


Participants who were mainly pre-school, primary and secondary schools teachers acquired knowledge about cognitive, visual, hearing, speech and language disabilities. They were also trained on inclusive education as well as policies and laws guiding the rights of disabled persons nationally and globally.
